Michael Eckroth, pianist and keyboardist, is an active performer in New York and worldwide, having performed extensively with musicians such as John Scofield (New Morning Concert DVD), Ron McClure, Eliot Zigmund and Paul McCandless.
Equally at home in jazz and latin-american music forms. Michael recently arranged and recorded an album in Cuba with Pepito Gomez and Orquesta Akokan (Daptone Records) which has received rave reviews on outlets like NPR and France’s FIP and proceeded to #1 on the Itunes latino charts. Recently having completed a PhD at NYU, Michael currently teaches jazz piano at Dartmouth College.
He co-leads and collaborates with a number of New York Area groups- you might see him at Smalls or Mezzrow with the band of Dan Pratt, Russ Nolan, Ron McClure, Eliot Zigmund, Gerry Gibbs or Marshall McDonald, in duo with Scott Colley, at Syndee Winters' tuesday residency at Minton’s or in concert with his collaborative groups La Voz de Tres or DEF trio, or the Michael Eckroth latin trio.
